Step 1-Test Delivery
How do I log in to the VARDT site and create a test session?

1. Launch Safari
2. Access the VARDT web site by clicking http://vardt.starttest.com
3. Enter your User name and Password
- User name = your entire HCPS email address (ex.cfgauss@henrico.k12.va.us)
- Password = you chose this pw when you were initially trained by Mr. Lapinski this school year
4. Click Login
5. After logging in, you will need to create a test session in order for your students to take the 30 question grade level CAT assessment.
How do I create a Test Session?
6. On the left sidebar, you should see a folder labeled with your school’s name. If you cannot view the contents of school folder, click once on the folder to expand it.
7. Click once on the Test Delivery link.
8. Find Create a New Test Session and, in the space provided, enter the Test Session Name (ex. Jones Block A).
9. Click GO.
10. A new window will show you the Test Session Number. Important Note: You do not need to pre-assign students to this test session. Students will be automatically assigned when they login using the Secure Browser.
What procedure do my students follow to take the CAT assessment?
NOTE: In addition to their laptop to take the CAT, students should have paper and pencil as well as a scientific calculator available to use during the testing session. There will be questions on the CAT labeled clearly as “No Calculator” questions.
11. After creating a new test session, you will write the test session number on you board for students to enter in order to take the CAT assessment.

12. After logging in, students will need to be approved for testing. You must have the test session open on your computer in order to give proctor approval.
13. When student names appear in the section labeled, “Waiting for Approval,” you will click “Approve” beside each student’s name.
14. The student will click the “Start Test” link.
15. At the Welcome screen, students will click the Next button in the bottom right corner to view the sample question and then how to use the math tools available.
16. The math tools are shown at the bottom of each window. Clicking on the tool icon will activate the math tool on the screen.
17. Students will press the End button after answering question 30.
