SOL Crunch Time
As the year comes to a close we are all thinking about the SOL’s, HAT’s, or other end of year assessments. With this and all the other end of year distractions, it is easy to lose sight of our own professional learning and growth. Take some time to reflect on the skills you have learned, techniques you have used, and progress your students have made. Consider how your questioning strategies can support your efforts to push (or pull) students to the end of the year. Post a comment to this post to share some ideas for how you are continuing to use your questioning strategies with students.
Sharing Successes
Many of us have found ways to share our QUILT learning with our colleagues. It’s often helpful to hear what other people have found successful. Please take a minute to share your experiences here so that we my all benefit from them.
Teacher
After being observed, reflect on the lesson by responding to this prompt:
What patterns of questioning/responding/reacting went well for you? What questions do you have for your partner? If you were to teach this lesson again, what would you do differently?
Observer
Complete your observation, then reflect on the experience by responding to this prompt:
What questioning/responding/reacting patterns did you observe that went well? What clarifying or eliciting questions remain for you? What questions might you ask of the teacher you observed, to help him/her improve his/her questioning practices?
