Site-based Staff Development Days
Job embedded professional development is an integral part of our Continuous School Improvement Plan (CSIP). There are four site-based and one centrally planned staff development days built into the calendar. As the Staff Development Planner, you will work with your principal and/or leadership team to plan professional development activities that are aligned to your CSIP. The process involves looking at data and goals, brainstorming ideas, making decisions about the content to be covered, and selecting an effective manner of delivery. Consider adult learning theory and encourage a three-step approach that includes a short instructional session, followed by a longer period for discussion/ development, and concludes with time for reflection. Throughout the year you will assist with the organizational details as necessary.
At the conclusion of all site-based professional development sessions, attendance for all teachers for all days should be tallied and recorded on the Staff Development Attendance Log and submitted to the Department of Staff Development. Any teacher requesting license renewal points for these sessions should complete one SD2 form and give it to the planner to submit with the attendance log.
Note: All teachers should have their time recorded on the attendance log even if they do not request license renewal points. Attendance logs and SD2 forms should be sent to Staff Development by April 30, 2012.
