Do Something
There’s a lot to think about when it comes to using all of this information in a powerful way. Vast resources are now freely available for teachers to use in the classroom to engage students and focus on different learning styles. We also have businesses who need employees with multimedia design skills. When it comes to presentations society now expects a higher level of sophistication and polish. Students who can make powerful arguments with multimedia skills will be in great demand.
Copyright has long been a frustration that complicates students practicing these skills in school. Many people are confused about fair use rights and what constitutes a violation. Many teachers are also concerned they’ll be liable for their students’ use of works under copyright.
Luckily, we have two solid reservoirs of content that avoid the copyright trap. Both Creative Commons and public domain works allow teachers and students to use content without worrying about the myriad of restrictions in traditional copyright.
