HCPS Response To Intervention

The Child Study Team (CST) model represents a long traditional instructional and behavioral support system for teachers, parents and students in Henrico County Public Schools.  Although the CST provided a model of help and problem solving processes that supported general education, interventions developed were not always research based nor data driven.  The Response to Intervention (RtI) process offers data driven levels of interventions that may become more intensive and frequent depending on the needs of the child.

The Response to Intervention (RtI) Coordinator reviews the Student Progress Review form and assembles the RtI team.  The core RtI team consists of an administrator, a counselor, a skilled teacher, and the teacher requesting the review.  The RTI coordinator invites other ad hoc members as needed based on the referral. Ad hoc members may include Title I teachers, content specialists, psychologist, social worker, or community agency representatives.
