K-12 Integration Ideas

Google offers a variety of collaboration tools that can enhance classroom instruction. I am most excited about the new Google form feature which was the inspiration for this creation. As a science teacher, I struggled with finding a way for multiple lab groups to collect and share data while maintaining its integrity. The system we used that included students recording the data on a big chart on the board or an overhead transparency left many layers of possible error. Students spent more time copying and entering that they were left with little time for analysis and discussion about the meaning of the data, the trends, or the limitations. I see Google forms as a complete solution. Without the need for a Google Account, students can enter data into a form and the teacher can pull all the data together, export it and make it available to all students through electronic file sharing. Now students can spend less time on organizational tasks and more time thinking critically. As you begin to explore the power of collaboration through Google Docs, I hope you will share your lesson ideas and use tips.
