Welcome!  I am a first grade teacher and starting my first adventure with blogging.  I hope to use this site as a way to communicate with my students, parents, and colleagues about best practices.  This is my second year teaching first grade, after teaching upper elementary for many years, and I am always looking for creative ways to engage my students.  I am still learning to adjust my expectations for my first graders, but they seem to always rise to the task.  Although I did hear at parent teacher conferences that my student told her mother, “Ms. deBordenave is working us first graders to death.”   I had to assure her that that’s not totally true.  Luckily, her mother is a teacher, too.
