Think about what you have learned today — the big ideas of Assessment FOR Learning. What speaks to you? What are the salient points of the new learning? What do you want to remember about balanced assessment when the new school year begins?
Jot down your thoughts and ideas–again we will share our comments on this blog. The bonus is you won’t have to search for an Action Planning Form, because it will be posted right here.

Welcome to Using Balanced Assessment to Improve Student Achievement. We’re glad you’re here! We will be using this blog site throughout today’s session so be sure to bookmark this page.
Let’s begin this morning by sharing with one another. Please leave a comment to this Welcome post by answering a few questions. As teachers we often encourage our students to be as specific and precise as they can be; today is no different. Take a few minutes to think about the following questions and write your response either in paragraph or list form.
- Who are you? Include your name, school, what you teach, and teaching experience
- Why are you here?
- What do you hope to gain?
- What would you like to take away from today’s session to help your students?
