I only have one suggestion/comment on the Use of Electronic Resources for Assessment section and that is to look at the text in the developing column in relation to examples. In the first box the examples are directly stated in the text and in the second box they are in parenthesis. We should do one or the other. Also, do we need to include Study Island in there?

One other thought about the TIP Chart in general. The focus of the whole document starts off by talking about 21st century skills. These skills do not always have to be taught with technology. As a teacher I can facilitate a student centered learning project that does not include any technology (like a computer) and I am still developing 21st century skills in my students. So, I pose a question to the group:

Is the focus of this document on 21st century instruction? 21st century technology? Or a combination of both? I think that we all need to know what exactly the focus is in order to better evaluate the sections. Thoughts?

I think that the approaching goals should be more about the consistent use of teacher created online assessments and rubrics and the ideal target goal should address balanced assessments that are student driven.

Here are some changes that I would consider making:
    1. I would move “Teacher creates a wide variety of online assessments.” from the ideal target to the approaching goal.

    2. I would add: Students create rubrics that address both understanding and traits of projects in their balanced assessment portfolios.

    3. I would add: Teachers design and implement 21st century project based learning assessments to the ideal target goal.

The 1st bullet in the Ideal column says: Teacher creates, aligns, and administers a wide variety of online assessments. This may be a good place to add “formative and summative.”

We also need something regarding using the assessments to inform learning and teaching. Perhaps we should consider what is on the NETS for Teacher Framework B:
4b collect and analyze formative and summative assessment data to inform instruction, using digital-age tools for data-based decision-making

We definitely don’t want to give anyone the impression that giving the 18 week assessments via EVP is the target. I believe we should include it in the Developing column: Administers specialist-created benchmark online assessments via ExamView Pro.

Patty mentioned Study Island. What about VARDT for math teachers? Is anyone really using Acces since it requires OS9 to run it? Since all MS have clickers shouldn’t we include CPS?

HS people– should SAT online be referenced anywhere?

TIPC = Technology Integration Progression Chart so it is a combination of 21st century Skills AND technology.

You could be helping students prepare for 21st century without technology but it wouldn’t much prep for a high tech world…

Infusing 21st Skills = critical thinking, ICT literacy and 21st century tools (e.g., technology) as a start…

the term balanced assessment seems VERY open-ended.

HCPS Central Office uses it to describe balance between teacher assessments, student projects/work AND standardized assessments.

Stiggins group uses it to describe balance of formative and summative assessments with little emphasis on standardized assessment.

your use in #2 above seems to imply alternative assessments beyond tests…

this section of TIP Chartis about electronic assessments…

#1 > what becomes the target then? (#3 isn’t really about electronic assessment…more about PBL than elect assessments…)
